Project Server 2007 trial - x86 / x64

Hi all,

My first post here so apologies if this is in the incorrect area...

I currently administer a production MOSS2007 x64 installation with SP1 (Win 2003 R2 x64) and am looking to evaluate the capabilities of Project Server 2007.

Now, on checking the initial Project Server 2007 trial download there was no mention of whether the package was x86 or x64. This is the actual package downloaded from the Microsoft download center. A few searches across the internet seemed to suggest that the package would work on either. So, I decided to try it.

Unfortunately, on running the 'setup.exe' file it immediately detects that my MOSS2007/environment is 64 bit and that I would need to obtain a 64 bit version of Project Server. Hmmm.

My question is... does anyone know if there actually IS a 64 bit trial installation or should this indeed work - if so... what should I try?

Or, is it maybe a problem with putting the trial version onto a production environment?

Any help would be appreciated!

I definitely know there is a x64 bit version, but if I remember correctly I had to get in touch with MS to send me the bits. You might be able to give them a call and track one down but I can't find it anywhere.

If you were looking to integrate Project Server and SharePoint let me know if you run into any trouble. It isn't too tough but can be a little tricky.

There is no Project Server *forum* to my knowledge.

But there is a quality Project Server *newsgroup* at (msnews.microsoft.com) microsoft.public.project.server

I suggest you post Project Server 2007 questions there rather than here. Apart from the fact that you are adding this to a server running MOSS there seems to be little connection between a question on x86 or x64 versions of Project Server and a SharePoint forum.

Thanks for the replies both. I'll try and hunt down a x64 version.

Yes, I only posted here due to the fact that it uses the Sharepoint 'framework' as it were... couldn't find anywhere else that seemed to siut. Thanks for the tip on the Newsgroup Smile
